Loose Sleen Attacks Two Slaves - Sleen May Be Owned By Tavern Keeper

By Jessika Roberts, Scribe of Turmus

Two slaves were attacked on October 16h by a sleen wandering the city streets, resulting in wounds that included a broken leg on one slave, a broken arm.on the other, and multiple cuts on both slaves.

The next day, Lyrus Tenrik, tavern keeper of Turmus, reported that his baby sleen is lost, and he is offering a reward of fifteen silvers for its return.

It is unknown whether the two sleen are the same.

Regarding the attack on the slaves, "it was very likely a small sleen, or the girls would have been hurt much more," said Lib, the physician's head of caste.

Tenrik's sleen, which has been owned by him for a passing hand, was reported as being gray overall with darker gray spots and red eyes. Tenrik, a large man, said his sleen is "as long as I am wide."

The girl known as Daft, one of the slaves who was attacked by a loose sleen, originally said the sleen that attacked her was white, but she later changed her story and said it might have been gray with spots. She also said the sleen that attacked her had a collar that might have said something similar to "Lyrus" on it. She said she sustained four injuries, including a broken arm.

The other slave, a girl named Jazzy who suffered a broken leg from the attack, said she was with her Master at the time. "We were kind of busy in the park, and rather than feeling good, suddenly there was intense pain," she said. "It was not just in one place. Suddenly it was all over my legs, and I could not move as my Master had me pressed against the post. Then I must have passed out from the horrific pain, and when I came to, my Master was chasing a white sleen with spots, and he was trying to keep it from attacking me again."

Tenrik purchased his sleen as an egg and hatched the sleen himself, so the sleen is generally used to men, he said. Nonetheless, caution is advised as, according to Tenrik, his sleen can bite if scared. Also, "he doesn't like women that are standing up for some reason," Tenrik said. "If they are kneeling and appear smaller, he's fine, I think."

Tenrik was clearly upset at his loss. "Please help me. He's only a baby," Tenrik said. "He's worth ten slaves to me."

Woman Falsifies Papers Claiming Ownership of Slave

A woman recently approached the Turmus city slave house with fraudulent papers falsely claiming she owned a kajirus.

Her paperwork did not contain necessary seals from officials, leading the Ubara, Selia, to accuse the woman of lying about her ownership.

"I found the boy at the trade post," the Ubara said. "I brought him to the slave house. I was giving him to the slavers. He had said he was lost when his owner was killed. The woman all of a sudden appeared. I think she had been watching us at the docks."

After being accused, the woman ran to the docks while being pursued by various men of Turmus. The woman was able to get onto a departing ship and escaped.

The incident, which occurred on October 1st, involved a lady named Zania who presented paperwork for a male slave who, at the time, belonged to the city's slave house, said Cassian Leoric, slaver of Turmus.

Leoric said the woman was unfriendly from the start, which put everybody on edge. "I was standing outside the slave house and a woman approached and was quite hostile and rude in her demeanor and words," Leoric said. "Well, I dressed her down and told her she better back off and adjust her attitude or I had some nice jewelry for her to wear around her neck. She got even worse. She demanded that I turn over the boy to her and shoved the bill of sale at me and I shoved it back at her."

Selia agreed that the woman was very unpleasant. "She was very rude to me and to the slavers," the Ubara said. "Then she pulled out a paper. It was a bill of sale. I asked to see it, I noticed right away it was not sealed It was forged by the woman. She got very angry and yelled that I did not belong in the slave house,. I informed her i owned the slave house. She took off and was not caught."

The slave has since been acquired by an individual in Turms. At the individual's request, their name and the name of the slave are being withheld.

Leoric said the woman provided what she claimed was a bill of sale for the slave. The paperwork "was dated suspiciously ... and it was not a registration from a city or scribe," he said, It was "just a bill of sale that anyone could have made."

The kajirus told people that the woman had approached him just that morning, but the bill of sale was dated quite some time prior to that, Leoric said.

It's important that all slaves have proper paperwork filed with the city, with the proper seals attached. "If you want proof of ownership, register them with a city," Leoric said.

Two Panther Girls Recently Captured in Turmus and Enslaved

By Jessika Roberts, Scribe of Turmus

Two Panther Girls were captured in Turmus by warriors and collared, and their new owner says they're on the way to becoming quality slaves..

Both Panthers are now part of the House of Lupus Lacum, owned by Jakob Wolfe. The first, captured on September 26th, has been named Froggy, and the second, captured soon afterward during the same incident, has been named Daft.

Wolfe said that Daft freely submitted to him soon after capture to save the life of the other Panther Girl.

Both Panther Girls are still on their way to being perfect slaves. Regarding Daft, "is she a good slave? Nay, not yet," Wolfe said. "She be improving, but remains unpredictable and under constant watch."

He said Froggy, who was rented by the household of Commander Augustus Bade, "resisted at first, but has since submitted within their household and appears to be adjusting well, though I wouldn't call her fully trained yet."

Froggy was captured by the commander after she apparently came to the city to steal, and jewelry was found on her person. She was carrying a bow with arrows and other traditional weapons used by Panther Girls.

"I do miss the days when I had to go out HUNTING in distant woods to bring panther girls back to the city," the Commander Bade said, "but, on the other hand, it is awfully convenient when they just show up here in the city on their own."

Ducky, a former Panther Girl who has been a slave of the Bade household for a lengthy amount of time, said she thinks Froggy is an excellent addition to the slaves serving Turmus. "Honestly, Mistress, Froggy is a born slave. More than I ever was," Ducky said. "In one day, Mistress, I got Froggy from threatening to kill me to literally eating from my hand with a smile and calling me 'First Girl.' In a week, we have made her happy and eager to serve. It took me months, just ask my Mistress!"

''I have found once broke to steel most panthers make excellent slaves," said the commander's companion, Ella De Wren Bade.

When the subject of possibly trading Froggy back to her panther band was brought up, Ella disagreed with the idea ."Trading a panther for her freedom is a waste of goods," she said. "It is not like she is a warrior of another city and deserving of respect. She is just a beast.''

The House of Lupus Lacum Trading Company serves Turmus through lawful slave sales, rentals, training and discreet contracts, Wolfe said. "We also acquire rare goods and accept private commissions. We value discipline, confidentiality and agreements honored exactly as written."

Overheard in the Streets ...

A slave was dusting a tavern table in Turmus when a sailor asked:

"Do you know where your Master keeps his silver?"

"No."

"His maps?"

"No."

"His secret accounts?"

"No."

"Then what do you know?"

The slave smiled.

"I know who asks too many questions."

Dear Helen,

I write to you in desperation.

My esteemed Companion is a merchant of some reputation, a man of means, dignity, and considerable appetite. By day he speaks eloquently of commerce and honor. By night he produces sounds from beneath the furs that resemble a wounded tarn crashing into a grain warehouse.

Last night one such explosion startled the household sleen, extinguished a lamp, and caused my kajira to dive beneath the bed believing an invasion had begun.

When I politely suggested he moderate his intake of bosk stew, he informed me that a free man answers to no woman concerning matters of digestion.

What is a free woman to do?

Signed,
Sleepless in Turmus

Dear Sleepless,

First, let us acknowledge that your Companion is correct. A free man answers to no woman concerning matters of digestion.

Unfortunately, neither does digestion answer to a free man.

You may attempt reducing his evening portions of bosk, onions, and paga, though success is unlikely. Men who describe themselves as "vigorous eaters" generally regard moderation as a form of enemy action.

Instead, I suggest practical measures:

Relocate the kajira from beneath the bed. It is unfair to expect a slave to distinguish between flatulence and a siege horn.

Keep spare lamp oil nearby.

If the household sleen continues to panic, place the animal in another chamber.

Most importantly, when the next eruption occurs, sit upright and calmly announce, "Ah. The mighty Ubar has once again declared ownership of the city walls."

A man's vanity is often more effective than any lecture.

Should the problem persist, convince him that neighboring merchants are whispering about it. No free man has ever feared his wife's opinion half as much as he fears becoming a joke in the tavern.

May the Priest-Kings watch over your household, and may they also, if possible, open a window.

Helen

JOKE SECTION

How many Goreans does it take to saddle a tarn?

Six. One to actually saddle the tarn while the other five are busy arguing about the proper quote from the Priest-Kings to justify how it should be done.

STORY SECTION

"Paga's Victory" by Cooper Galena

A rising sun should not make noise. So what was that awful din in his head? Surely it was a sign from the Priest-Kings that they had finally drawn the conclusion that the men of Gor were simply a failed exercise and had raised the alarm to let all conclude their affairs. He groaned, turned over, and saw her.

She was not tall, no. She was not large either. She was on the small side, but fully formed, and if he was to admit to himself, nicely formed. He rubbed his eyes, again, surely this was some sort of phantasm, a figment of his besotted imagination. He buried his face in the pillow, yelled as loud as he could, and looked up.

She was still there, a quizzical look on her face. It was a very nice face, even though it was just the slightest bit blurry. This was odd, as he knew he had excellent eyesight, he'd often bragged that he could see as well as an older tarn!

Throwing his feet off the sleeping couch, he blearily sought a bowl of water, usually left in the room for him. Dumping the water over his head, spluttering and finally shaking the larl's mane of hair he had, he then peered over his shoulder, and there she was, still.

Gathering what wits he felt he possessed at the moment, he turned to face this apparition, and was able to see her glance at what he was soon to realize was his naked body, at which he saw her eyes slightly widen. He shook his head, and when he opened his eyes, she was not only in front of him, but she was on her knees, head down.

If he remembered correctly, this was one of the slave positions of a Gorean slave girl. He looked down and came to the slow conclusion that this was a slave girl. She had her eyes down, and he remembered that was what she was supposed to do.

"What are you called?" he heard himself say, and immediately realized he was speaking to what moments ago he considered the consequences of paga's victory over his good senses. She did not look up, which was good, because trying to focus on a moving target at the moment was making him dizzy. She said quietly, "I am called Snick, my Master."

Physicians of the Green Caste have many laborious explanations for how the brain works, and how those workings can be different than the "mind". Two things happened simultaneously. First he rebelled at the notion of a slave being called "Snick". What kind of name is that? He'd heard all sorts of ridiculous names for slaves, but Snick?

The second, and far more subtle mental machination, was a subconscious registration of the term "my Master". Had an alarm bell actually existed in his brain, it would be peeling loud and long at the slave's use of the term "my Master".

Pausing a moment to gather his thoughts, which were befuddled, fuzzy and frankly still not altogether clear on whether he was conscious or dreaming, all he could utter in response to her stating her name was, "Snick??"

She trembled slightly, whether in fear of his sounding annoyed, or the fact he had said her name, and she was his. "That is my name, my Master ... Snick ... plain and easy to say. But then again, I am plain, and many say I am easy." She shrugged, and wiggled a bit closer to his boot.

This was all coming to him as a shock. He was a sergeant in the Red Caste, a man accustomed to having his head squarely on his shoulders, and yet here before him was a clear departure to his accustomed sanity.

He again blurted out, "Snick?" This was shortly followed by "What do you mean, 'my Master'?"

Snick shuddered this time in fear, for he sounded more than annoyed, but, then again, Masters could get annoyed at the slightest thing, like teeth, and that thought made her smirk, but she hoped he did not see that.

She pointed at him, still not looking up, pointing specifically at his manhood. He glanced down, and found his shock compounded by the fact that he was naked. Why was he naked? Then Snick spoke again, still pointing, saying, "You won first prize, my Master!"

First prize? It was only then that he identified a small blue ribbon tied around the aforementioned manhood.

Casting stares between the ribbon and the slave, he finally looked at the girl and said simply "Explain."

The girl smiled, and then took a deep breath, and started to tell the story. "There was a competition at the tavern. The tavern sluts were ..." and she blushed only slightly and carried on "... using their skills on various Masters, to see which slut could make the Master spill his paga. It was a drinking competition!"

His look of confusion deepened, but Snick was not done. "The tavern Master had offered me up as First Prize to the Master who could drink the most and spill the least. You won the competition my Master! You own me, I am your prize!"

Snick continued to explain, in detail, at length, all about the competition and which slave had done what to which Master, and how that affected each Master. She carried on and on, seemingly without ever repeating herself, a virtual spring of thought and impressions.

Finally, he held up his hand and said "Enough, enough, just tell me why there is a ribbon around me?" She looked up for the first time, and he noted she was certainly not plain looking, and her bright eyes and smile made him further take note of her beauty.

"My Master, that was my idea! After you brought me here, to your house, and ... " she smiled brighter "... and well, used me to both of our heart's desires, you fell sound asleep, whether from exhaustion brought on by using me so well, or the vast quantity of the paga you drank, or both. I thought it would be a special treat for you to have a victory ribbon!"

He reached down, lifted her to her feet and pulled her along to his sleeping quarters. "I need to sleep, and then I have a desire for you, and then when I am rested and sated, you will explain this all over again."

Snick grinned, and padded along happily behind her Master, her smile broad and glowing.

Then he turned and looked at her and said "... and then, you are going to explain to me why you are called Snick."
